The action takes place in the 11th century. BC e. - during the decline of the XX dynasty of Egyptian pharaohs, a fictional historical character - Ramses XIII is trying to resist the High Priest Herihor.In the novel, excerpts from ancient Egyptian texts are mixed with obvious anachronisms and modern thoughts - at the same time, the work is considered one of the complete and accurate descriptions of ancient Egyptian society.
