How difficult it is sometimes for us to appreciate the full depth of the Word of God without a wise shepherd and mentor. One of these wise mentors is the holy martyr-confessor, a true ascetic, Bishop Vasily Kineshma (in the world Veniamin Sergeevich Preobrazhensky). He set Orthodox enlightenment as his main archpastoral task. Having comprehensively and deeply studied the Holy Scriptures, he chose the Gospel of Mark as the subject of his reflections. Hieromartyr Vasily Kineshma considers it as the spiritual and moral basis of the existence of the human person. Therefore, this book turned out to be a kind of textbook on the spiritual life of a Christian.
