The book tells about the historical period when, long before the pharaohs, Egypt was ruled by a descendant of the gods Osiris.
After Set killed Osiris and became the supreme ruler, he raised taxes, and the life of ordinary Egyptians became unbearably hard. The grown-up son of Osiris and Isis, Horus, having arrived at the Council of the Gods, declared his rights to the throne. The Council took the side of Set, but Horus was not going to put up with this decision, and a long-term struggle for the Egyptian throne began between them.
