The book of the prominent Polish pianist and composer Vladislaw Шпильмана tells about ordeals falling to his lot in the years of Second world war in the Warsaw ghetto. He not simply tried to survive, but to the best of abilities participated in resistance to the enemy coming on native land. However afterwards exactly the help of the German officer allowed to pull through him. Fragments from the diaries of the same officer, Вильма Хозенфельда, also plugged in edition and serve as the important adding to what Шпильман writes about. A book served basis to the famous film put by Roman Полански.
