Книга "Коротка історія Туреччини" від Норманна Стоуна є справжнім шедевром, який дозволяє читачеві зануритися в багатогранну та складну історію цієї країни. Автор майстерно проводить нас через етапи від кочівників сельджуков до величі Османської імперії, а потім до її занепаду та відновлення в сучасній державі. Особливо вражає те, як Стоун розкриває питання про поєднання ісламських традицій та проєвропейських прагнень, що є надзвичайно актуальним у сучасному світі. Книга написана зрозумілою мовою і містить багато цікавих фактів, які не лише інформують, але й спонукають до роздумів. Хоча переклад має деякі недоліки, загальна якість тексту не знижує враження від читання. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цікавиться історією, культурою та політикою Туреччини, адже вона відкриває нові горизонти розуміння цієї країни
