The first complex research sanctified to the Karelia bath-house is executed on the basis of the materials, educed in the archives of Republic of Karelia and Finland with bringing in of plenty of information of ethnography, фольклористики, linguistics, architecture and other contiguous disciplines. Basic attention is spared to the bath-house rituals and beliefs existing for Karelia in XIX and XX eyelids. The ceremonies of life cycle, conducted in a bath-house, are considered in detail, and love magic. Mythological presentations, on that an ethnomedicine, and also bath-house etiquette and beliefs, related to the spirits-owners of bath-house, is based, are first investigated.
