The illustrated monograph by St. Petersburg art critic Alla Aleksandrovna Rusakova (1923–2013) continues the small series “Artists of Russian Emigration.” The book is dedicated to the creative and life fate of the remarkable Russian artist Zinaida Evgenievna Serebryakova. Zinaida Serebryakova belonged to the generation of masters who “built” Russian art of the 20th century. Forced to leave Russia, she lived in France for more than forty years, but was always part of that circle of artists of Russian emigration, whose work remained an organic part of Russian culture. The author offers her definition of the place and significance of Zinaida Serebryakova’s work in Russian art of the 20th century, stylistic and “species” "features of her painting style, and also compares the Russian and French periods of the artist's work. The book contains reproductions of more than 300 works, many of which are published for the first time, and is addressed to both specialists and a wide range of lovers of Russian painting.
