In our country, David Burliuk is known mainly as the teacher and senior friend of Vladimir Mayakovsky. However, the figure of Burliuk is incredibly large-scale and interesting in itself. “The Father of Russian Futurism,” whose name personified everything new and rebellious in art in Russia at the beginning of the last century, he lived a long life, writing about 20 thousand paintings and thousands of poems and achieving recognition in three countries - Russia, Japan and America. The book of writer and avant-garde researcher Evgeniy Demenok tells how he managed this. This is the first complete biography of David Davidovich, based not only on literary sources, but primarily on the memories of Burliuk himself and the archives of his family members. Separate sections are devoted to the destinies of his brothers and sisters, who were also involved in art. Much information about the fate of the Burlyuks is being published for the first time.

Вражаюча біографія великого митця!
Книга "Давид Бурлюк. Інстинкт естетичного самозбереження" є справжнім відкриттям для всіх, хто цікавиться історією мистецтва та культурою початку XX століття. Євген Деменко зумів не лише детально описати життя та творчість Бурлюка, але й передати його дух, емоції та бунтарську натуру, що робить цю біографію надзвичайно живою і захоплюючою. Читачі отримують унікальну можливість заглянути в світ, де формувалися нові мистецькі течії, і зрозуміти, як Бурлюк став "батьком російського футуризму". Особливо вражає те, що книга базується на спогадах самого митця та архівах його родини, що надає їй особливої автентичності. Хоча є деякі недоліки в перекладі, загалом текст читається легко і приємно. Це обов'язкова до прочитання книга для всіх, хто хоче глибше зрозуміти не лише Бурлюка, а й епоху, в якій він жив і творив.
