The textbook by Associate Professor of the Department of Biblical Studies of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, Candidate of Theology Dmitry Georgievich Dobykin “Non-canonical books of the Old Testament” is the first such publication in Russian in recent times. The textbook introduces the different views of biblical scholars on non-canonical books. Based on Russian and foreign works, it sets out basic exegetical and isagogical information, and also examines non-canonical additions to canonical books. The appendix analyzes the Fourth Book of Maccabees, which is absent in Russian Orthodox editions of the Bible, but is available in Greek. The textbook is recommended for teachers and students of theological and secular higher educational institutions, as well as for everyone interested in the Holy Scriptures.
