On the Day of My Burial is an epic historical novel by Thomas Pynchon, published in 2006. The novel takes place between the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and the time immediately following World War I. With its phantasmagoric characters and kaleidoscopic plot, the novel confronts a world of imminent threat, unbridled corporate greed, false religiosity, idiotic helplessness, and evil intentions in the highest echelons of power. “On the Day of My Burial” is an example of historiographical metafiction or metahistorical novel.
