A novel about provincial Russian life at the turn of the century and at the breakdown of man, family, and state. The main character Sergei Popsuev, a graduate of the capital's university, at the end of Gorbachev's perestroika, arrives on assignment in the regional city of Nezhinsk. Ahead of him are the nineties “dashing” years, a time filled with work, creativity, love, tossing, mysticism, victories and defeats; Popsuev often feels like Cyrano de Bergerac and performs actions dictated to him by the character of his idol.

"Несамотний Попсуєв" - це книга, яка майстерно відображає складнощі та суперечності провінційного життя в Росії на стику століть. Головний герой, Сергій Попсуєв, постає перед читачем як складна особистість, яка намагається знайти своє місце в світі, що стрімко змінюється. Автор вдало передає атмосферу "лихих дев’яностих", час, коли людина змушена адаптуватися до нових реалій, шукати себе в творчості та любові, а також боротися з внутрішніми демонами. Книга сповнена емоцій, містики та філософських роздумів, які змушують задуматися про сенс життя, сім'ї та держави. Хоча текст перекладено за допомогою штучного інтелекту, що іноді призводить до незначних неточностей, загальна якість перекладу не псує враження від читання. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цікавиться історією, культурою та психологією людини в умовах змін.
