The novel takes place between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, in the ancient kingdoms of Sumer. The main character is a solar demon, Labartu, who, by the will of fate, is forced to live among people and hide his essence from them. Trying to find his true purpose, he wanders and sees how wars and disasters destroy everything that seemed unshakable. Labarthe has to endure a lot, but in the end he finds what he needs.
