England, XIV century. Cecilia, Countess of Losford, hated the French, blaming them for the death of her father, and therefore did not approve of the affair of Princess Isabella, the king’s favorite daughter, with a hostage of the English crown. Trying to prevent rumors from appearing at court, she enters into an alliance with another French hostage, Mark de Marseille, a noble chevalier who has long realized that for many knights honor is nothing more than a big word. Cecilia and Mark try to alienate the princess from the French duke, but ironically they themselves become close. Eventually there comes a time when each of the main characters in the story has to choose whether to act out of honor or according to the dictates of the heart.
