The Chronicles of Amber, a series of novels created by Roger Zelazny in 1970-1991, instantly became a science fiction classic, earning recognition from millions of readers. It was reissued many times, adapted for performance in theaters and on the radio, and used as the basis for computer and board games. Filmmakers twice (in 1998 and 2002) began film adaptation of The Chronicles of Amber, but today this idea is still waiting for its implementation.
