Vladislav Zubok, a professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science, in his book “Collapse. Його дослідження базується на багаторічному вивченні архівних документів, спілкуванні з учасниками подій та експертами, що надає книзі значну достовірність. Зубок спростовує популярні міфи про неминучість розпаду Союзу, підкреслюючи, що це був результат контрпродуктивних реформ та інтелектуальної безпорадності еліти. Книга написана зрозумілою мовою, і хоча деякі моменти в перекладі можуть бути не зовсім точними, це не зменшує загальної цінності роботи.
