Анрі де Кок майстерно відтворює атмосферу того часу, описуючи не лише політичні події, а й повсякденне життя людей, які намагалися вижити в умовах хаосу. Читач відчуває, як на його плечах тяжіє тінь страху, коли сусіди можуть стати ворогами, а отрута на столі стає звичним явищем. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, які, безумовно, помітні, загальний зміст і стиль книги вражають. Я б рекомендував цю книгу всім, хто цікавиться історією та любить глибокі, емоційні романи, які змушують задуматися про людську природу та її темні сторони. Це не просто історія – це урок, який варто вивчити!
