This book is about weapons, but not only - it reveals a bizarre mosaic of phenomena of the physical world: chemical and nuclear explosions, isotope separation and magnetic hydrodynamics, ion kinetics in dense gases and shock waves in solids, neutron physics and high-current electronics, magnetic cumulation and electrodynamics. The author talks about all this without resorting to the complex apparatus of higher mathematics. For those who wish to become acquainted with these phenomena in detail, he also wrote a textbook for universities and military academies, Explosions and Waves, designed for a trained reader. In the book that the reader holds in his hands, he will also find historical excursions, permeated with irony, discussions about politics and politicians, as well as about the characters in the closed world of military science. In the second (electronic) edition, the text has been revised and the illustrative range has been significantly expanded.

Книга "Шелест гранати" — це справжня знахідка для тих, хто цікавиться фізикою, але не хоче занурюватися у складні математичні формули. Автор майстерно пояснює складні явища, такі як хімічні та ядерні вибухи, магнітна гідродинаміка та кінетика іонів, у простій та зрозумілій формі. Це видання не лише розширює знання про зброю, але й відкриває читачеві нові горизонти у розумінні фізичних процесів, що відбуваються навколо нас. Ілюстративний ряд значно покращує сприйняття матеріалу, а перероблений текст робить його ще більш актуальним. Хоча переклад з використанням штучного інтелекту має свої недоліки, загалом книга залишається дуже якісною. Рекомендую її всім, хто прагне дізнатися більше про фізику та військову науку, не вдаючись до складних термінів і формул!
