The original title was “Valentine.” Vampilov was forced to change the name due to the fact that while the play, following the fate of all Vampilov’s works, went through numerous stages of statements, or rather, non-statements, M. Roshchin’s play “Valentin and Valentina”, written later, became widely known. The title was changed to “Red Summer - June, July, August...” However, it did not satisfy the playwright. While working on his first one-volume book (published by the Art publishing house after the author’s death), Vampilov gave the play a “working” title, “Last Summer in Chulimsk,” which turned out to be the final one.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
