“The Second Youth of Mrs. Donaldson” is a story by one of the most famous modern English satirists, Alan Bennett (1934). A 55-year-old widow, both to earn money and to fill her spiritual emptiness, gets a job in a troupe of false patients, where medical students learn the basics of the profession. Along the way, she rents out an empty room, however, for a peculiar and not infallible fee. One way or another, she manages to experience a second youth. Translation by Vera Prophetova.
