“The 45th Parallel” is a novel created on the basis of documentary diaries from 2005–2006. “We (my mother and I) came from a strict Muslim world, as if we arrived from another planet, we are refugees. We found ourselves in a foreign land with a completely different culture. But what is this life without war like? We find no peace or help from the state, we are forced to survive every day. Having met two guys whom we sincerely consider brothers, we understand that we have friends. But it turned out that they were gay. Our upbringing, received in Chechnya, would never have allowed us to communicate with such people. However, we became friends before we found out about their orientation... And now everything has changed..."
