"The Peasant Maid" is a novel by the Finnish writer Santeri Alkio, which tells the story of the life of peasants during the transition period from feudal economy to capitalist relations in Finland at the end of the 19th century. At the same time, the writer focuses on the life and work of women who perform routine work and at the same time face the difficulties of their fate and show courage in the struggle for their own happiness. The book reflects the socio-economic transformations of that period and creates an in-depth portrait of the local community through the prism of the everyday life of the main characters. Sensations and emotions are nurtured in the author's descriptions with special care, giving the reader the opportunity to immerse himself in the world of inner experiences of the characters and feel the strength of their character in the conditions of the complexities of social progress.
