Jedi Padawan Rith Silas loves adventures - or rather, loves reading about them, rather than participating in them himself. Ready to spend hours on end rummaging through the archives of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Rith dreams of becoming one of the Order's greatest scientists. However, Rita's mentor, the worthy and respected Jora Malli, has other plans: she has accepted an assignment to the Starlight Beacon, a magnificent new Republic outpost on the edge of known space. Rith, as Jora Malli's Padawan, must accompany her whether he likes the idea or not (and he certainly doesn't). So Rith reluctantly boards the ship that will take him and several other Jedi to the lighthouse “Starlight”, where Master Jorah awaits, ready to begin a new, adventurous life on the frontier. However, after an incident in hyperspace, Rita's ship and other ships find themselves in trouble, and refuge can only be found on an ominous, abandoned space station. The secrets that lie there not only force Rita to make difficult choices, but could also plunge the entire Galaxy into darkness...
