The dark streak in the life of police chief Leo Kreutner seemed to be coming to an end. More recently, he nearly burned down a house while producing homemade schnapps, and temporarily lost his license for reckless driving. And so, at a costume ball in the Mangfall beer mill, his advances were answered by a woman whose reciprocity he did not dare even hope for. The evening promised to end with longed-for intimacy, but where should I bring my beloved? Adventurer Kreutner quickly finds a solution. He takes from his friends the key to the mansion of a local resident who is now away. He encourages his boss Wallner's father to go all out, and in the old man's car the trio goes to an empty house. In the bedroom, instead of female caresses, an unpleasant surprise awaits Kreutner - the corpse of the owner of the mansion. And an inadequate girl with a pistol in her hand, emerging from the next room, wounds the policeman in the head. It would seem that the crime is trivial, and the killer is in the hands of justice, but the brilliant duo of two policemen, Wallner and Kreutner, will not allow the investigation to be diverted in the wrong direction.
