Лорел Макбейн, талановитий кондитер, живе в тіні своїх почуттів до брата подруги, і її внутрішня боротьба з цими емоціями дуже чітко передана автором. Читач відчуває всі переживання героїні, її надії та страхи, що робить її історію надзвичайно близькою та зрозумілою. Особливо вразила сцена, коли Лорел, зважившись на сміливий крок, цілує Делані - це момент, який змінює все. Книга сповнена романтики, але також порушує питання про те, що насправді важливо в стосунках. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, які не заважають загальному сприйняттю, "Смак щастя" залишає після себе приємні враження і бажання вірити в любов.
