For many years, Werner Heisenberg was considered one of the most demonic representatives of Western science. And this is not surprising, because it was he who was at the head of the Nazi nuclear program, which, fortunately, was unsuccessful. And yet, the scientist’s collaboration with the criminal regime did not obscure his enormous contribution to science. In 1925, Heisenberg summarized the seemingly disorganized accumulation of observations in the field of quantum physics over the previous decades, and two years later he derived his famous uncertainty principle. The scientist stated that the observer influences the reality he contemplates. This principle and the conclusions that follow from it perplexed many scientists, including Einstein, who, in protest, wrote: “I would like to think that the Moon exists even if I do not look at it.”

Книга "Гейзенберг. Принцип невизначеності" є неймовірно захоплюючим дослідженням життя та роботи одного з найвідоміших фізиків XX століття. Автор вдало поєднує біографічні факти з науковими досягненнями Гейзенберга, що дозволяє читачеві зрозуміти не лише його науковий внесок, але й моральні дилеми, з якими він стикався під час співпраці з нацистським режимом. Принцип невизначеності, який він сформулював, став справжнім революційним кроком у фізиці, і його ідеї продовжують впливати на сучасну науку. Книга написана зрозумілою мовою, що робить її доступною для широкого кола читачів, навіть тих, хто не є фахівцем у фізиці. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, загальне враження від книги залишається позитивним, і я б рекомендував її всім, хто цікавиться наукою та історією. Це не просто книга про фізику, а й про людські цінності, вибори та наслідки, які вони несуть.
