Shimansky flees St. Petersburg. Zagorsky and Ganzalin set off to search for him.

Автор вдало поєднав детективні елементи з історичними подіями, що робить читання не лише захоплюючим, але й пізнавальним. Розслідування вбивства священика Георгія Вельямінова розгортається на фоні Російсько-японської війни, що додає напруги та контексту. Персонажі, такі як Орест Волін та Нестор Загорський, прописані дуже детально, і їхні мотиви та переживання викликають співчуття та інтерес.
