“The idea for the story “Godzilla’s Twelve Step Program” came to me suddenly,” the author recalls. “I think I saw a story on the news about various Twelve Step programs—for alcoholics, drug addicts, sex addicts, and so on—and I thought it could be applied to anything.” Something must have made me think of Godzilla. This happened to me once before: an inflatable dinosaur made me write, “Bob the Dinosaur Goes to Disneyland,” so this time the image played a role beyond those twelve steps. Anyway, this is one of my favorite stories."
