Sergei Reshetov’s novel “The Guillotine for Fanny” covers the period from the beginning of the 20th century to the 70s. In the center of the story is an episode of the assassination attempt on V.I. Lenin, committed by the Socialist-Revolutionary Fani Kaplan at the Mikhelson plant in 1918 and subsequently executed by the Kremlin commandant Malkov. The fact is well known, but... there are too many blind spots. However, after the publication of the archives of the KGB of the USSR, it became possible to shed light on this complicated story. Based on these facts, the author develops intrigue, building acute, sometimes paradoxical situations. As in a kaleidoscope, times, countries, people change. Lively, memorable images make the reader experience along with the characters. From the first pages to the end of the book, the author keeps the reader in constant suspense, and the multifaceted plot arouses genuine interest.
