According to Herzen, “History is the door to the past.” The three stories presented in the book are an attempt to look into this door. Private stories, one of which is based on facts well known from the remaining documents; another is a fantasy about a meeting that did not happen, but that could have happened; the third is a personal memory of a time in which you really don’t want to close the door.
