A GRU officer is sent illegally to Kyiv on a mission of special importance. A top-class intelligence officer is tasked with recruiting a former GRU super-agent nicknamed Lazar, and if he refuses, destroying him. The intelligence officer arrives in the Ukrainian capital and tries to contact Lazar, but the super agent himself comes to the intelligence officer’s hotel. He guesses why the Scout came; Lazar notices everything and calculates even complex multi-move combinations. But neither he nor the Scout yet know whether they are enemies or friends. A subtle psychological game begins. The intelligence officer declares that he is going to kill the head of Ukrainian intelligence, Moskovenko, and asks Lazar to get him a sniper rifle.
