Chester's Mills, a provincial American town in the state of Maine, one clear autumn day found itself as if cut off from the whole world by an invisible force field. Airplanes falling within the field's coverage area seemed to crash into its arch and fall sharply to the ground; in the vicinity of Chester's Mills, a gardener's hand was cut off by a force field; local residents, having gone to a neighboring city on their business, cannot return to their families - their cars catch fire when they come into contact with the dome. And no one knows what this barrier is, how it appeared and whether it will disappear... Chef Dale Barbara, a veteran of the military campaign in Iraq in the recent past, decides to assemble a team that includes several brave citizens - local newspaper publisher Julia Shumway, a doctor's assistant, a woman and three brave children. Big Jim Rennie, a local official-bureaucrat who, in order to maintain his power over the city, is capable of anything, including murder, and his son, who has his own “skeletons in the closet,” are up in arms against them. But their main enemy is the Dome itself. And there’s almost no time left!
