Otto von Bismarck (1815–1898) was a famous German diplomat whose crowning political activity was the creation of the German Empire (1870–1918). His Thoughts and Memoirs, which was published in 1898, became a real bestseller: in his book, he talked about the events that led to the birth of the Second Reich. However, this is not just a memoir, it is, first of all, a political testament of the “Iron Chancellor”, addressed to “sons and grandchildren for understanding the past and teaching for the future.” Summing up the results of his activities in the political arena, Bismarck not only wanted to justify himself to his contemporaries, but also to warn his successors against possible mistakes in the future.

"Думки та спогади" Отто фон Бісмарка - це не просто мемуари, а справжній політичний маніфест, який відкриває перед читачем глибокі роздуми про історію, політику та людську природу. Бісмарк, як один із найвпливовіших політиків свого часу, ділиться своїми думками про події, які призвели до створення Німецької імперії, і робить це з неймовірною щирістю та проникливістю. Його розповіді про дипломатичні маневри, стосунки з іншими державами та внутрішню політику Німеччини вражають своєю актуальністю навіть сьогодні.
