Brett Holliday (real name David Dresser) is one of the most popular and critically acclaimed American authors of detective novels. He entered the literary field at the age of thirty, but success came to him with the beginning of the publication of books in his famous series about the adventures of a private detective from Miami, Michael Shane. Each subsequent novel about Michael Shane (and Halliday created fifty of them in total) invariably became a bestseller, went through many editions in English-speaking countries and was translated into many foreign languages.
