Karl Barth (1886–1968) is one of the greatest religious thinkers of our time, a classic of Protestant theology of the 20th century, the author of the fundamental nine-volume work “Church Dogmatics.” The lectures that formed the basis of the “Essay on Dogmatics” were intended for a wide student audience - listeners who were not very sophisticated in matters of theology, which made the book accessible to an unprepared reader who was interested in Christian dogmatics.
