In 2008, Canadian journalist Amanda Lindout and Australian photographer Nigel Brennan traveled to Somalia to report from this hot spot on the African continent. On the way to a refugee camp near Mogadishu, they were captured by an armed group of Islamic fundamentalists. After her release, Amanda, co-authored with Sarah Corbett, published a memoir about her ordeal. This is a poignant tale of 460 days of suffering and violence, but also of overcoming fear and pain. The book received wide press and a warm response from readers around the world.
