A black dot stands on Jagged Mountain at the beginning of a long and very steep ski slope. The dot's name is Tonya Glimmerdahl. Tonya has a mane of red lion curls. She will turn ten at Easter. “Tonya Glimmerdahl,” a new book by the Norwegian writer Maria Parr, already known to Russian readers from the story “Waffle Heart,” was published in the original language in 2009 and immediately became a laureate of the Brahe Prize, the most significant literary award in Norway. Subtle humor, a cheerful view of the world and relationships between people have won the writer the fame of the new Astrid Lindgren, and her books are read by children not only in Norway, but also in Sweden, France, Poland, Germany and the Netherlands. And now the story of the girl Toni, whose motto is “speed and self-respect,” can be read in Russia.
