This happened during the great and formidable era of the Indian Wars on the banks of a river, muddy with the blood of warriors of Indian tribes who entered into battle with detachments of pale-faced aliens. The young man, almost a boy - and the little Indian named Black Hills was not even eleven at the time - was possessed by the spirit of the murdered leader of the pale-faces.
