The tragedy of September 11, 2001, seen through the eyes of different heroes and from different angles. A clerk climbing out of a tower that is about to collapse, a terrorist hijacker preparing for his final flight, and several other characters who are somehow involved in the tragic events. However, this is, in fact, not so much a story about a tragedy as a familiar American “family” novel, in which the smooth flow of life is broken by an external invasion, causing the linear narrative to crumble into structurally intermixed fragments.
