The English novelist Arnold Bennett (1867–1931) became famous mainly for his serious novels. However, in his work he also paid tribute to the frivolous genre. In 1911, Bennett wrote a short novel, Buried Alive, where he told the reader how an absurd accident not only completely changed the life of the main character, but also almost shook the centuries-old foundations of English society . The book was a great success and a year later it was filmed. Much later, in 1968, it was remembered on Broadway, where a musical was created based on it. Published in Russian for the first time.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
