Andrey Karsky is an artist and specialist in determining the authenticity of works of art. He always had a difficult relationship with his father - and when he died, Andrei was no longer able to paint. One day he is approached by an unusual client who claims that he is the grandson of the Russian landscape artist Dmitry Likeev. The problem is that this artist disappeared without a trace in the forties, and finding his traces is not so easy. This is exactly what the client asks for - he wants Andrey to find evidence of kinship. While doing research, studying the biography of the great artist, Andrey regains his gift - he feels the strength to return to painting, to take up his brush. And even more: at some point, the life story of Dmitry Likeev and his relatives begins to influence the fate of the main character.
