The book "Eumenides" (Greek: Ευμενίδες) is one of the most famous tragedies of Aeschylus, the ancient Greek playwright. This tragedy is considered the last part of the Oresteia trilogy and tells about the conflict between the bourgeois order and ancient Greek customs. The main theme of the work is the struggle for justice and power.
The plot of "Eumenides" unfolds around the well-known mythical story of Orestes, who killed Clytemnestra's mother in revenge for her murdered father. After that, Orestes feels the curses of the Furies - ancient deities of revenge, who are called to avenge the blood of their relatives.
"Eumenides" is not only a dramatic work, but also a huge spiritual release that forces the reader to think about the eternal concepts of justice, mercy and power. Aeschylus' book has caused deep philosophical discussions for centuries and remains one of the most important works of national and world culture.
