Britain. It's a hot summer in 1939. The country is preparing for war, but on a coastal farm in Suffolk there are other worries - widow Edith Pretty suspects that treasure is hidden on the land she owns in Sutton Hoo. In an attempt to verify this, the woman organizes archaeological excavations on the territory. She turns to experienced archaeologist Basil Brown for help. It soon becomes clear that there are indeed valuable finds buried on Mrs. Pretty's land. They are joined by a young student, Peggy Piggott. She and her husband can't wait to take part in the excavation and find out what else is hidden deep in the mound. Three months of hard work against the backdrop of growing national unrest confirmed the guesses - a unique thing is indeed buried in Sutton Hoo, an echo of the history of Britain, which radically changes the view of the past and future.
