У ній зібрані всі його літературні твори, які демонструють глибину його думок та філософський підхід до життя. "Живі історії" вражають своєю мудрістю, а нотатки "Спочатку був звук" відкривають нові грані музичного світу. Лірична повість "Євине яблуко" захоплює своєю емоційною насиченістю та чуттєвістю. Особливо вразила автобіографічна повість "Все ще сам вівця", де Макаревич ділиться своїми спогадами про знакові моменти в культурі та музиці, що робить цю книгу не лише літературним, а й історичним документом.
