Microbiological water pollution ranks first in terms of risk to human health. Therefore, water disinfection is a prerequisite for achieving drinking quality in accordance with established hygienic standards. The publication provides basic information about modern methods of drinking water disinfection; a brief description of each method, its hardware design and the possibility of application in the practice of centralized and individual water supply. The brochure also provides basic information on the main sources of water use and their suitability for drinking purposes. Regulatory documents regulating water and sanitary legislation, a comparative review of regulatory documents regulating the quality of drinking water in terms of disinfection, adopted in Russia and abroad are provided.
