Anatoly Chubais. Response to Oleg Moroz’s book “1996: How Zyuganov Didn’t Become President” (M. Raduga. 2006) Dear Oleg Pavlovich! Some time ago you asked me to respond to your book “1996: How Zyuganov didn’t become president.” I understand. I took too long in answering - and I want to apologize for that. It so happened that in the last six months I have not had the physical opportunity to switch off for at least a couple of days in order to read quietly. We managed to do this now, during the New Year holidays (your book was put aside for these relatively free days). And, as it turned out, it was not in vain. I read it, as they say, “in one sitting.” I understand that I have a very biased , and perhaps not a completely objective view - especially since what you describe is not just a story, but also a piece of my life. But I always feel untruths keenly; I didn’t see them in your book. Perhaps I do not always fully agree with some local interpretations of events (not in the description of facts, but in the presentation of your personal view of the situation) - but there is a strong sense of truth from your book. However, I will express one concern - There’s still too much of me there! This is probably because you and I communicated, and this is understandable “technologically”, but not historically true. Maybe there will be a second edition - then it will definitely be necessary to organize your conversation with Boris Nikolaevich! Now, when the people, who have fallen into historical amnesia, sincerely consider Stalin to be the greatest state leader, when the construction is firmly driven into the heads of the people: “the collapse in the damned nineties has been overcome by order and verticality authorities" books like yours are especially needed. Thank you for your work! With sincere and long-standing respect, your reader and admirer A.B. Chubais01/08/2007

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
