Boris Vasiliev’s novel “The Same Age of the Century” completes the large-scale “saga of the Oleksins”, covering more than two centuries of Russian history, which also includes the novels “The Gambler and the Burter, the Gambler and the Duelist”, “They Happened and They Never Happened”, “Quench My Sorrows” ..." and "The House That Grandfather Built."

The heroine of the novel, one of the last representatives of the old noble family of the Oleksins, suffered many bitter trials. Her husband, a hero of the Civil War, was shot, the children were sent to an orphanage, and she herself spent many years in camps. But Kaleria Vikentievna’s courage and fortitude did not leave her for a minute. She managed not only to survive, but also to withstand, retaining the ability to forgive, compassion, and, most importantly, the love for the Motherland, which the Oleksin nobles carried through the centuries.
