Democratic Republic of Afghanistan. Summer 1985. Conducting active hostilities between the government forces of Afghanistan and a limited contingent of Soviet troops in Afghanistan on the one hand and numerous armed formations of the Afghan Mujahideen (“dushmans”), enjoying political, financial, material and military support from the leading NATO states and the conservative Islamic world on the other hand. Private OKSVA Sergei Nikitin ends up at the Bagram training ground, where he becomes an internationalist warrior. He sees all the negativity of serving in the Soviet Army; experiences cruel hazing; double standards in relations between officers and conscripts; erasing all the lines between life and death, which subsequently becomes a common everyday occurrence for young, not yet strong souls of eighteen-year-olds. He finds himself in the thick of battle, in the Panjshir gorge, where he loses his colleagues, friends, with whom only yesterday he shared army rations and dreamed of a happy life after the army... This is where the real horror and terrible reality of the Afghan war begins... Contains obscene language.
