Before you is the first Russian edition of the book “Battlefield Berlin”. It is a unique contribution to the non-fiction literature on the post-war confrontation between East and West. It was written by authors who stood on opposing sides in the Cold War: George Bailey - former director of Radio Liberty, Sergei Kondrashev - leading KGB expert on Germany, retired lieutenant general, and David Murphy - former head of the CIA's Berlin base of operations, later the head of the “Soviet” department of the CIA. The authors relied on their memories and a number of unique, first declassified documents from the KGB and CIA when working on the book. The book tells about the formation of intelligence agencies by both sides in Germany immediately after the war, about the blockade of Berlin, about the Otto John case, about the largest intelligence operation of that time - the “Berlin Tunnel”, about the history of the Berlin Wall and a number of other important events of the post-war period. p>
