Mikhail Aleksandrovich Sholokhov (1905–1984) is one of the most significant writers of Russian Soviet literature, winner of the 1965 Nobel Prize for the novel “Quiet Don”, which brought the author world fame. This book includes stories from early collections - “Don Stories ”, “Azure Steppe”, as well as the stories beloved by readers of many generations “Nakhalenok”, “The Fate of a Man” and chapters from the novel “They Fought for the Motherland” - based on this novel, Sergei Bondarchuk made a feature film of the same name in 1975, which became an undisputed masterpiece for all time.
