Автор майстерно відтворює атмосферу епохи, показуючи, як моральні цінності зникають у безодні політичних інтриг. Читачі отримують можливість спостерігати за складними персонажами, які борються з власними демонами, і в той же час стають частиною великої історії, що розкриває ганебні сторінки минулого. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, які незначно впливають на сприйняття тексту, книга залишає глибокий слід у душі. Вона змушує замислитися про цінності, владу та наслідки людських вчинків.
